Applied Behavior Analysis

James began his career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in 2012 at Johns Hopkins University under the supervision of Maranda Trahan, Ph.D. He worked as a behavior therapist while pursuing advanced training in behavior analysis and earned his Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in May 2019.

Behavioral Assessment & Intervention

As a BCBA, James develops and implements individualized, evidence-based behavioral interventions. His work focuses on understanding the factors influencing behavior and developing practical strategies that create meaningful and lasting change.

Home & School Support

James has extensive experience addressing behavioral challenges across both home and school settings. His approach emphasizes collaboration and consistency across environments while helping children strengthen communication, learning, independence, and everyday functioning.

Learning & Academic Development

James has a particular interest in applying the science of learning to improve academic outcomes. He uses principles of behavior analysis to identify barriers to learning and develop individualized strategies that help students build skills and make meaningful educational progress.

Sleep Assessment & Intervention

Another area of James’s professional interest is working with children experiencing sleep-related difficulties. He develops evidence-based assessment and treatment plans designed around the individual child and family, with an emphasis on practical strategies that can be implemented consistently at home.

Caregiver & Professional Training

James provides training and guidance to caregivers and therapists to support the effective implementation of behavioral interventions. He believes that successful intervention extends beyond developing a treatment plan and includes ensuring that the people supporting a child have the knowledge and tools necessary to use those strategies effectively.

Focus & Approach

James’s work is grounded in the science of behavior analysis and a commitment to individualized, meaningful outcomes. Rather than focusing solely on reducing challenging behaviors, he emphasizes building the skills that allow children to learn, communicate, participate more successfully in their environments, and develop greater independence.

His goal is to translate behavioral science into practical strategies that improve not only a child’s immediate functioning, but also their long-term learning, independence, and overall quality of life.
